The Phra Maha Phichai Mongkut and the white royal umbrella inside the Information Library Hall beside the royal portrait of King Mongkut were received during the separation period of King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Thonburi, the former name of KMUTT (the initial idea to separate from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology, Nonthaburi Lat Krabang Campus, and King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology, North Bangkok Campus began in B.E. 2525, with the official announcement published in the Royal Gazette on 20 February B.E. 2529), by drawing lots to divide among the three aforementioned institutes, at which time KMITT received the Phra Maha Mongkut, the white royal umbrella, and the Garuda, which are important royal insignia of the king that had been replicated by the Fine Arts Department.
